Getting knotty takes any string (well, almost any) and turns it in to a complex and beautiful knot. No need to worry about the precision and symmetry needed for Celtic Knots! Using your original strings you'll create beautiful patterns! Incorporate your favorite Zentngle® patterns and watch the magic happen!
Jennifer Cottrell teaches this fabulous class live on July 10 from 2 - 4 EDT. No worries if you can't make the live class as a recording of the class is made available to all paid students!

In this class you will:
  • Create a beautiful, original knotted pattern.
  • Learn how to take (almost) any string and turn it into a knotted pattern.
  • Incorporate Zentangle® patterns into your design.
Supply List:
The supplies are very simple, just your basic Zentangle® supplies including black Micron pen, pencil, tortillion, art paper - either Bristol or watercolor paper work well cut to either 3 x 5 or 4 x 6. Colored pencils are optional.
Who can attend? Everyone! This class is open to all artists! A basic understanding of the Zentangle® method is recommended.

Zenfolio with Nancy Dawes CZT

Learn to make your own Zenfolio to display your beautiful Zentangle™ Tiles. Each Zenfolio is created with scrapbooking materials (e.g. chipboard, scrapbook paper, glue). Follow along with us during class with your own materials or purchase the class kit. 
Accompanying the class are written instructions with dimensions for three sizes of Zenfolio.

In this class you will:


  • Create a beautiful display folio for your Zentangle® tiles or other small art works.
 
  • Learn techniques for hardbound book covers.
 
  • Receive detailed written instructions including how to create a Zenfolio in three different sizes!

Supply List:
  • 1 piece of 12x 12 chipboard
  • 2 pieces of 12x12 scrapbook paper for the cover (including solid colors for tangling)
  • 3 pieces of 12x12 solid or print scrapbook paper for the tabs (black shows the white tiles nicely or white for black tiles)
  • Tacky glue (e.g. Aileen’s , PVA or Elmer’s Glu-All – needs to be a quick drying liquid glue)
  • Photo corners
  • Score tape 3/8” wide
Tools
  • Bone folder
  • Paint brush dedicated to glue or a disposable foam brush
  • Scrap paper for gluing (e.g. newsprint or used copy paper)
  • Paper cutter, or metal ruler and cutting blade (e.g. xacto)

Marine Mandala:
A Tangled Under-the-Sea ZIA Adventure

Create a beautiful swirling seaweed mandala with a few new tangles and some simple favourites. The coloring techniques offer a no-stress guide for mixing colors to ensure your success with the water-based markers. Inspired by the west coast Salish Sea, Marie with assist you through this frameable masterpiece step-by-step. Be prepared to be ‘wowed’ with what you can design!

  • 379 Jade Green
  • 076 Green Ochre
  • 133 Chartreuse
  • 620 Lilac
  • 665 Purple
  • 452 Process Blue
White 10.5” square Opus Tile (or 10.5” square hot-press watercolor or mix media paper)
Drawing pen – Tombow 04 or Sakura Pigma Micron PN
Two 2H pencils held together with rubber bands
One 2B pencil for shading
White Gel Pen
White Eraser
Medium Water brush (or #4 round paintbrush and water container)
Optional - Sakura Clear Gelly Roll
You will also need a plate, compass or other round object to make an 8.5” diameter circle
